Wine cellars and vineyards in Trebinje - Herzegovina through a glass of wine

If there is a place in Bosnia and Herzegovina where wine is not drunk but experienced, it is Trebinje. Located in the heart of Mediterranean Herzegovina, the city is surrounded by hills that hide fertile vineyards and traditional wineries where the art of winemaking has been cultivated for centuries. Climate with lots of sun, rocky soil and proximity to the sea make this area ideal for growing indigenous grape varieties such as žilavka, vranc, blatina and krkošija. Wine here is not just a drink - it is the culture, identity and pride of the region. The wineries are open to visitors, offering tastings, tours through the underground cellars, walks through the vineyards and unforgettable stories.

Trebišnjica River – The Silent Queen of the South

The Trebišnjica River is not just a symbol of Trebinje – it is its lifeblood, mirror and soul. It is considered one of the longest underground rivers in Europe, with its incredibly clean flow that runs through the heart of the city and then disappears underground, only to reappear kilometers away, even in Croatia and Montenegro. Its length in the open and underground flow is over 180 kilometers, and for many Trebinje residents – it is more than a river, it is a feeling. The Trebišnjica originates near Bileća, from Lake Bileća, and slowly glides through the rocky areas of eastern Herzegovina, only to become tame, wide and calm in Trebinje, as if it knows it has arrived home. It flows through the city peacefully, like a glass carpet in which bridges, plane trees, old walls and morning light are reflected.

City of the Sun Trebinje – A family oasis of fun, health and relaxation

Located just a few minutes' drive from the center of Trebinje, City of the Sun is the largest tourist and entertainment complex in Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the most modern family entertainment destinations in the entire region. Founded and developed as a visionary project, City of the Sun offers a unique blend of entertainment, recreation, gastronomy, wellness and sports, all in the heart of the Herzegovinan karst and sun – with more than 260 sunny days a year.

Aqua Park "Sunčana dolina" - a water paradise for all generations The heart of the complex is Sunčana dolina, the largest aqua park in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with numerous pools, slides, wave effects and water attractions for children and adults. Particularly popular are the adrenaline slides, lazy river, children's zones with shallow pools and sprinklers, as well as sunbathing areas with deck chairs that allow for all-day relaxation. All pools are under the constant supervision of a professional lifeguard, and the entire area offers the perfect balance between excitement and safety - a true family paradise during the summer months.

Strač hill and viewpoint - A view you will never forget

Above Trebinje, in the direction of Ljubomir, rises the Strač hill, known for its impressive view and rich nature. Strač is not just a lookout point – it is an entire area that offers forest trails, the remains of an old Austro-Hungarian fortress and positions from which you can see the entire city, the Trebišnjica River valley, Popovo polje and the mountains in the distance.
An asphalt road leads to the top, and in several places there are benches and information boards, ideal for a short break.
It is particularly interesting that cycling tours, hiking climbs and photo safari tours are often organized on Strač, and the sunsets from this place are breathtaking.
For those who love history – the fortress on Strač dates back to the Austro-Hungarian period and once served as a military observation post.
